Bring History to Life at the Missouri State Archives!!
Archives Alive! will bring Missouri history to life or your fourth & fifth grade students. R.S.V.P. NOW!!
Join Molly and Delores as they travel back to the early days of the territory we now know as Missouri, and tell the story of the earliest Missourians, and those who settled here in the 1800s. Louis Jolliet, Jacques Marquette, and Pierre Laclede will introduce some of Missouri's oldest cities and how they were settled and named. Students will gain a greater understanding of the Civil War, and Missouri's role in it, as well as other conflicts, such as World War I and World War II. Famous Missourians like George Caleb Bingham, Jesse James, Virginia Minor, Scott Joplin, Langston Hughes, Harry Truman, and many more will be discussed.
These forty minute performances, sponsored by the Friends of the Missouri State Archives, will take place at the Missouri State Archives, a division of the Secretary of State’s office, in Jefferson City, just minutes from the Capitol. Performances and tours are free of charge.
